6 Vegan Recipes that Will Satisfy Non-Vegans!

Unless you live in a commune, you have non-vegan family members and friends. And unless they’re super chill and completely open-minded, you’ve heard them say that they could, " NEVER give up cheese," or that they, "just don’t like vegan food."
Let’s change that.
Here are some of Veganosity’s most popular recipes that have received accolades from vegans and non-vegans. These simple and easy plant-based recipes will convert a meat eater to the plant side, and are perfect for summer parties.
"Pulled" BBQ Carrots with Easy and Quick Homemade BBQ Sauce
This is one of our most popular recipes, and with good reason. The tender shredded carrots are cooked to perfection and then drowned in our easy to make barbecue sauce. After one of these you'll never want to go back to the dark side.
"Pulled" BBQ Carrots, y'all! This is one of my most popular recipes, and with good reason. It's super easy to make, it's really good, and you won't believe how hearty it is. The BBQ loving people in your life won't believe that they're eating carrots. Here are a few of the many positive responses I've received for this recipe:
"Someone posted this in our health and fitness group and it sounded good. I made it once already and am making it again tonight; my husband and I both loved it! That sauce is fantastic! We’re not sports people, but I will make this again when we have friends over! They will love it, too! (So many exclamation points!!!)"
"this recipe is incredibly amazingly tasty I’m in love with it and the sauce <3
just the sauce alone is the best BBQ sauce I've ever had
thanks for posting this recipe"

Portobello Mushroom "Bacon"
My Portobello mushroom "bacon" is closely tied with the BBQ carrots. I've received so many great reviews. The texture isn't like bacon, but the flavor is so close. You don't have to call it bacon, especially around meat eaters, because they'll put up a fuss. Just serve it to them and let them tell you how great it is.
"This recipe is vegan gold! Turned out delicious and using a cast iron pan mine turned out a bit crispy around the edges! Best BLT I’ve ever had!!"

Great recipe inspiration, thanks! I'm a fan of traditional monster salads for non-vegan events because I think everyone needs more veggies, good veggie burgers also work. I haven't worked with jackfruit yet, keep forgetting to look for the canned stuff and intimidated by working with a fresh one! Our local Whole Foods did have a fresh jackfruit recently and it was larger than a huge watermelon!
Linda Meyer says
Oh my gosh, I would have LOVED to have seen that jackfruit! I wonder if anyone bought it? I agree about everyone needing more veggies, the trouble is getting those people to actually put the salad in their mouths-haha! Thanks, Christine. 🙂

Never cooked jackfruit before, but the name is pretty cool! Almost as cool as rocket. I don't have a special vegan recipe that I make for non-vegans, but I do like to make filling salads with nuts, legumes and something fresh. i try to give it many flavorus too: sweet, sour, salty... It has to be fun to eat 🙂
Linda Meyer says
I love the name rocket! So fun! Salads are great, but the non-vegans (especially the men) in my life need more than salad. Me on the other hand, I'll just take the entire salad bowl and find myself a corner to eat it in. 🙂

Love this roundup idea. I have to say that so much of what I make has been greatly enjoyed by many of our family and friends. The comfort food is where it's at I think. Mexican and Italian also seem to go over well. I just call my food food, and don't really even talk about what ingredients may not be in there. Never had an issue! Anyway, I'd love to come on over and enjoy all of these with you! Plus perhaps some wine.
Linda Meyer says
I totally agree! It's just good food. Unfortunately, once people know you're a vegan they immediately ask, "is this vegan food?" I get that from my friend's husbands all of the time! 🙂

Yum! What a delicious round up, vegan or not! That "tuna" salad sandwich looks particularly satisfying to me right now.
Linda Meyer says
Thank you, Alissa! It's one of my favorite easy recipes for the summer.
